Tiny Ghost Press Newsletter 2.0, Issue #10, December 20, 2024
Hello ghosts of Christmas presents!
Okay, that greeting may have been a stretch, but we are here at the end of another book-filled year and I am so excited to take a little look back at all that happened this year, and look forward to a few of the things we have up our sheet sleeves for next year.
2024 was another stellar year for Tiny Ghost Press, which saw a lot of growth on the back end, meaning we were able to line up titles for the next two years, while releasing four new spectacular books.
This year we released:
Girls Night by I.S. Belle
Trailer Park Prince by Andre L. Bradley
Haunting Melody by Chloe Spencer
and most recently, Keep It In The Dark by Justin Arnold
It was amazing to see the reaction to all of these books and a real joy to work with returning authors Chloe and Justin! The release of Keep It In The Dark also saw our first ever simultaneous audiobook release with the release of the print and ebook copies.
In November we returned to YALC in London, where we were able to put into effect some of the lessons we learned last year, and where it's always a joy to meet readers familiar and new. The new set up at our stall looked fantastic and we had so much fun with our tiny ghost scavenger hunt, and our tomb-bola! We're planning on returning in 2025, and can't wait to see you all there.
In October I was asked to speak on a panel at MGM Comic Con, which was a first for me and super thrilling. It was great to speak to aspiring authors and publishing hopefuls about being an indie press and how we operate.
This year we were also lucky enough to have one of our books (Trailer Park Prince) included in one of Rainbow Crate's subscription boxes, which meant the creation of a special edition. We were thrilled to work with Rainbow Crate and look forward to more exciting partnerships in the future.
We also worked with a local writing group for high school students called Igniting Writing, sending books for the students to read and review and having our very own Christopher Hartland (author of Against The Stars) joining them to host a writing workshop.
We read some amazing books this year and had a great time continuing to provide greater queer representation for queer youth.
We've also been hard at work getting ready for the next year of TGP releases and we're scaling up! Next year we are publishing FIVE new titles! Two of which we have revealed the covers of, those being:
Blackblood by Kree Sullivan
And the long awaited third instalment of The Alpha's Son series... Running with the Alpha's Son
Both of these books are available for preorder now, head over to the book pages for more information!
Along with these two titles we have another three lined up, these are:
The Blade that Binds Us by Leah Thomas and Kali Wallace, a dark gay romantic fantasy epic.
In Between The Walls by Caspian Faye, a love story between a human cis boy and a trans ghost.
And The Lightyears Between Us, a sapphic, dystopian, sci-fi enemies to lovers romance.
We are so excited for you to see the gorgeous covers we have in the works and for you to read all of our upcoming 2025 titles.
You may have noticed we closed our submissions for the first time this year. We are so lucky as a publisher to receive so many amazing submissions, and while our goal is to remain as accessible as possible, we decided to close our submissions as we are now scheduled out to 2027 and we weren't able to give the submissions we receive the attention they deserve. But I am excited to say that our submissions will reopen in the spring of 2025. We can't wait to read all the amazing queer books you've been writing.
There were of course some low points in 2024, indie publishing, especially of queer books, is not for the faint of heart, and this year we saw the world's political landscape regress toward greater division and hatred. And while it has been hard at times to blithely continue on, we are committed to continuing to publish our books, to fighting oppression in all forms, and being a sanctuary for queer readers and authors. As we move into a new year we are even more devoted to getting our books into the hands of the people who need them most!
We hope you'll join us on this mission, helping to spread the word and share the amazing stories written by our stable of immensely talented and uniquely visionary authors, and continuing to champion queer voices for all, but especially the young adults who need to see there is a space for them to exist. That's what we hope to achieve with our books and we are pumped, galvanised, and ready to do this in 2025.
From the whole Tiny Ghost team we wish you a very merry, safe, warm, and spooky festive season! Thank you for supporting us this year and we look forward to sharing more queer books with you in the years to come.
Stay scary!
